MULTITEMPORAL ANALYSIS OF THE LA FE-PUNTA COLORADA SECTION ON THE PERIOD 1970-2015
Main Article Content
Abstract
The investigation consists of the adjusted application of a methodology
to determine the displacements of the coastline and its spatiotemporal
evolution. Therefore, the fundamental purpose of this research is to
determine the displacement of the coastline during the period 1970-2015
in the La Fe-Punta Colorada section, through the visual classification of
aerospace images, as well as the use of satellite images. current Bing Maps
satellites and aerial photographs of flight K-10, which were interpreted
to determine the position of the coastline that is displaced at a rate of
130 ha. The most significant value is represented by eroded zones with
52% of the total area, representing a significant setback in the position
of the coastline that indicates a change in the coastal morphology. The
methodology consisted in the estimation of the vulnerability index before
the rise of the mean sea level at a scale of 1:50 000 of the northwestern
coastal zone of Cuba. The scientific novelty is based on obtaining
a cartographic representation at a scale of 1: 25,000 of the net movement of
the coastline associated with population centers or economic objectives.
