Abstract

Knowledge about Geology may be an important task for supporting development, it has to do with many matters like; nature reserve, areas, governments, and other environmental factors and actors, his importance in environmental global crisis is evident. So it is very important to create some strategies for ambiental education in different teaching institutions, in order to instruct people. As we know Geology is the support of environment; biotic, no biotic, cultural, and social natural factors, all these subjects remain over rocks and minerals, also the whole process which is linking with them is development here. For that reason, Geology Cuban Society, a Non- Governmental Organization, belonging to Geologist-miner, “Protect to your Family” magazine, made a social and familiar work in environmental education field. Besides this example, here we write another work that has to do with the same topic.

Author Biography

Nyls Gustavo Ponce Seoane, Institute of Geology and Paleontology Geological Survey of Cuba. La Habana. Cuba.

Geological engineer, specialized in Mineralogy and graduated from the University of Leningrad, where in 1967 he concluded with the degree of Master of Science. He carried out survey and prospecting works, exploration of construction materials, hydrogeology and geological engineering in the Havana Aqueduct, and taught Mineralogy at the University Branch "Matahambre Mines". He worked as a researcher at the Central Office of the General Directorate of Geology and Geophysics (DGGG), which later became the Center for Geological Research (CIG) and at the Institute of Geology and Paleontology of Cuba, where he currently works. In the early 90's he dedicated himself to the study of mineral raw materials to substitute imports and in 1994 he was one of the founders of the specialty and of the IGP Group dedicated to environmental geology. He has been head of numerous research projects related to laterites, bauxites and the environment; he taught undergraduate and graduate classes at the University of Pinar del Rio, he was assistant adjunct professor at CUJAE; he has written numerous research reports and scientific-technical articles; he has participated in several national and international events, congresses and conventions; he has done collaborative work in the former USSR, Hungary, Spain, Mexico and Brazil. He was secretary of the Scientific-Technical Council of the IGP. He is a founding member of the Cuban Society of Geology and emeritus member of the Cuban Society of Geology.
