Presence of gold and silver minerals in the ores and concentrates of Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
The analysis of the partial results of interdisciplinary studies developed in specialized journals, data from other authors, as well as modern mineral research techniques, allowed us to provide new data on the substantial composition of the ores, the forms in which the gold and silver concentrating minerals are found, as well as their influence on the concentrates. The detailed study of the chemical composition of the ores and concentrates made it possible to establish the forms of existence in which the precious metals are found, especially the gold and silver concentrating minerals, with implications for metallurgical processing for the technological elaboration of their ores. The mineralogical classification for the standard deposits previously proposed is confirmed and the knowledge about the minerals that concentrate the valuable elements in them is expanded. They are classified as mineralogical types: Florencia AVC: auro-telluridic, Isla de la Juventud Delita Metamorphic Massif: auro-argentiferous-arsenopyrite- sulfoantimonite, Northern Ophiolitic Belt, Descanso- Nuevo Potosí: gold-quartz (or without quartz)-carbonates with arsenopyrite- pyrite. To determine the in primary gold deposits the forms of existence in which the precious metals are found is a valuable information for geological and technological research work are the principal objective of this research.
