Abstract
The history of “Mario Sanchez Roig” Museum is offered from its founding to present, along with a brief biography of the Cuban scientist whose name it bears. The museum is devoted to geological and paleontological sciences. It provides information to geoscientists and other related professionals, students and general public. Several images of most representative Cuban rock samples, minerals, fossils, and thin sections are presented, as well as its different collections and the original documents it treasures. The museum also shows representative samples of rocks and minerals from other countries such as Spain, Russia, Mexico and United States. The work fulfilled by specialists of the institution and the various collaborative activities and scientific extension taking place in coordination with other national and foreign institutions are promoted. Its role for the dissemination of general and national geological knowledge for both education and scientific research development in Earth Science is emphasized.
