UPDATING THE KNOWLEDGE OF FOSSIL PLANKTONIC FORAMINIFERA OF CUBA. A SUMMARY OF RESULTS

Abstract
This work represents a sum up of the results obtained from the studies related to the Pro- ject I+D 613570, An Update of Cuban Fossil Planktonic Foraminifera Species Knowledge , in which updated data about this fossil group were compiled by the specialists of the Pale- ontology and Museum Group from Geology and Paleontology Cuban Institute of, in order to obtain all necessary data for using in the making of individual files for each reported species, including updated taxonomy, sys- tematics and classification of index species, with the aim of elaborating publications in various formats, as a scientific product that can be disseminated and introduced to the geological community and society, as one of the products of CNDIG Editorial Brand. The final update of fossil planktonic foraminifera systematics, according to the Project data, yielded a total count of 340 species, includ- ed in 89 genera, 19 subfamilies, 20 families, 16 superfamilies’, 1 suborder, 1 order and 2 classes, for the Jurassic, Cretaceous, Pale- ogene and Neogene from Cuba, which is an expression of the fulfillment of Project´s ob- jectives and represents a direct contribution to the Stratigraphic Lexicon of Cuba. The structure of Jurassic Catalog and Cretaceous Planktonic Foraminifera of Cuba, currently on editorial process, is also presented.
