SOME OBSERVATIONS ON THE SO-CALLED ANTHROPOCENE

Abstract
The meaning of Anthropocene is here reviewed, as the criteria of some authors, as a possible term to be used to highlight the enormous influence of mankind in changes on the environment, ecosystems, the relief, as well as different physical-geographic, paleoecological, and landscaping aspects, among others, particularly during the last 170 years. It is emphasized that this term has not been approved by the various international associations directly related to geology, particularly the Quaternary geology. Other criteria to be taken into account in any future evaluation are also considered.
