In Cuba, 161 are reported, of which 3 are exploited: Lote Grande, the Golden Hill mineral field, a mineral zone enriched in gold from the El Cobre deposit, called Barita. All of them with limited resources. The government budget annually allocates approximately 33 % of funding for geological research work for gold. Research is needed to achieve greater effectiveness in the selection of new deposits and obtain a greater volume of ores. The presence of small primary deposits of different genesis, the non-existence of a classification based on the use of Cuban patterns for gossans and the little experience in their exploration, generate a significant margin of error in terms of selecting the targets to be prospected. Starting from the degree of study of the primary ores, the existence of 141 virgin gossans (of which their potentialities to host Au and Ag ores are unknown) and the main regularities formulated from the standard gossans by geoenvironments, a classification is proposed, where empirical evidence, supported by accumulated practice, are key factors taken into account. The main expected impact, is the contribution of a general tool that helps a more efficient selection of the objectives for the geological exploration of this type of gold deposits by provinces, giving priority to those objectives with the greatest prospects for the development of the mining activity. Los gossans constituyen un tipo genético industrial de yacimientos. En Cuba se reportan 161, de los cuales se explotan 3: Lote Grande, el campo mineral Golden Hill, y una zona mineral enriquecida en oro del yacimiento El Cobre, denominada Barita. Todos con escasos recursos. Del Presupuesto del Estado anualmente se destina cerca del 33 % del financiamiento para los trabajos de investigación geológica para oro. Se necesitan investigaciones que permitan lograr una mayor efectividad en la selección de los nuevos depósitos y obtener un mayor volumen de menas. La presencia de pequeños depósitos primarios de diferentes génesis, la inexistencia de una clasificación a partir de la utilización de patrones cubanos para los gossans y la poca experiencia en su exploración, generan un margen de error importante en cuanto a la selección de los objetivos a prospectar. Con el fin de argumentar de forma científica las direcciones de las investigaciones geológicas se toman como puntos de partida el grado de estudio de las menas primarias, la existencia de 141 gossans vírgenes y las principales regularidades formuladas a partir de los gossans patrones por geoambientes. El impacto principal esperado es el aporte de una herramienta general que ayude a una selección más eficaz de los objetivos para la exploración geológica por provincias, dando prioridad a aquellos objetivos de mayores perspectivas para el desarrollo de la actividad minera.
