COMPILATION OF AMMONITE SPECIES NOT REPORTED FOR CUBA IN THE STRATIGRAPHIC LEXICON. Reported species are distributed in Upper Jurassic to Upper Cretaceous formations. These are mainly present at the western zone: Jagua, El Americano, Artemisa formations, and Veloz, Paraíso and Margarita formations in central zone among others. Knowledge about Cuban ammonites mainly comes from research work over Jurassic and Cretaceous well known fossil locations fulfilled by Cuban and foreigners paleontologists during the first half of the 20th century. Geological surveying carried out by researchers from the Academies of Sciences of both Cuba and the former European socialist republics contributed deeply to this topic. According to the mapping and observations results, one hundred and fifty four genres, containing the 310 species and subspecies of ammonites reported to Cuba were described. The Cuban Stratigraphic Lexicon, where the most general and comprehensive data reported on the geologic formations of Cuba are provided includes only 25 per cent of such species. This highlights the importance to complete this valuable information. For this reason, all ammonites species described for Cuba were enlisted, as well as their reference sites with the corresponding lithostratigraphic units. This will allow to enlarge the information about the presence of such fossil cephalopods in the stratigraphic record, and extend it to those units in which ammonites reports missing. Los ammonites son un importante grupo de fósiles índices del Mesozoico cubano. Las especies reportadas se distribuyen en formaciones del Jurásico Superior hasta el Cretácico Superior. Estas especies de ammonites se encuentran principalmente, en la zona occidental, en las formaciones Jagua, El Americano, Artemisa y, en la zona central, en las formaciones Veloz, Paraíso y Margarita, por citar algunas. El conocimiento que se tiene de los ammonites cubanos proviene, esencialmente, de los trabajos realizados por paleontólogos extranjeros y cubanos, en localidades fosilíferas del Jurásico y el Cretácico. Además, en levantamientos geológicos realizados hace algún tiempo por investigadores de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba y por sus homólogos de las antiguas Repúblicas Socialistas del este europeo, hubo aportes en el tema. Según las observaciones realizadas, se describe un total de ciento cincuenta y cuatro géneros, que contienen las trescientas diez especies y subespecies de ammonites para Cuba. En el Léxico Estratigráfico de Cuba, que recoge y brinda los datos más generales y abarcadores de todas las formaciones geológicas existentes, se menciona solo 25% de las especies reportadas. Esto realza la importancia de completar este conocimiento. Por esta razón, en el presente trabajo se muestran todas las especies de ammonites descritas en Cuba, incluyendo la relación de las localidades donde se hallaron con las unidades litoestratigráficas correspondientes. Esto permitirá ampliar la información sobre la presencia de estos cefalópodos fósiles en el registro estratigráfico y extenderla a unidades donde no existían reportes.
